Keep Pushing - Enduring Through Trials

By Feba Alan Varghese | Trivandrum, India | June 8, 2023 | Share A Thought

Life of 29-year-old Mary, an MBBS graduate, turned upside down when she met with an accident. Her injuries caused total damage to her spinal cord. Below the waist, she became immobilised. She was forced to start over! Mary was the only one of her fellow passengers who survived the catastrophe. Just like all of us her first instinct was to question God. "Why God, why me?" she asked.

You will experience moments like these in your life when everything seems to be going in a downward spiral. Problems keep coming at you nonstop pushing you to undoubtedly wonder if you're all alone. This in turn causes the domino effect of you having to start comparing yourself to those around you, frequently letting your mind go wild in contemplating all the challenges you have ever endured!

Have you ever taken a moment to consider your circumstances from an alternative angle? Let's assume that you just finished a test. one about which you had been worried for days. But after you finished, you wondered why you had wasted your time stressing for no reason because it looked so straightforward.

Well, this is exactly what Paul tells us in his first letter to Corinthians - “God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength but with your testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it”. God is faithful, and He won't ever give you problems that are too big for you to handle. God only asks that we wait patiently for His timing. Then, miracles will undoubtedly occur!

Dr Mary Varghese did not stop after the event that changed her life, despite her self-doubt. She then learned leprosy rehabilitation surgery and even obtained a fellowship in New York. She founded the Rehabilitation Institute and oversaw the first fully operational rehabilitation centre in India after returning to her alma mater, CMC Vellore. The doctor on wheels' legacy is still alive today!

Therefore, if you feel overwhelmed, stop, take a deep breath, and keep in mind that He will not give you more than you can bear.
