By Jobin Thomas Benoy
Psalm 56
Saul was trying to kill David and David ran away to Gath. Gath was a town where Goliath had lived and Gath was one of the Philistine towns
We all know that the Philistines were enemies of Saul and David.
It seemed crazy for David to go to Gath and when he got there, David thought it was crazy too. So, he pretended to be crazy.
This was because in those days, people did not kill those who were crazy.
But David was afraid, and he told God about it in this Psalm (verse 1-7). He is describing the troubles and oppressions that he is going through one after the other in this Psalm.
David, was trying to escape from one problem which was Saul, ended up in another problem of landing in a Philistine city where everyone considers David as their enemy.
He is facing one obstacle after the other. Many a times we go through a similar situation, facing one problem after the other.
And the question that pops up in our mind is Does God care? Does God remember me?
But in all this situation, David was confident that God will deliver him. Yes, on one side, he is scared but on the other side he has the confidence in the Lord.
This day, be assured that the God we serve is a God that cares for us, and He is a God that remembers us.
Verse 8, we read,
You number my wanderings; And put my tears into your bottle
Are they not in your book?
Not a tear that we shed goes unnoticed. What a great God we serve. You might be a victim of rejection; You might be a person who has been ignored and left out by your friends and family just like David and Joseph. But don’t worry, God cares for you, and He remembers you.
There is a famous saying;
When God remembers, change is inevitable When God remembers, tears turn into joy When God remembers, impossibility becomes possible When God remembers, those who mocked you will bow before you When God remembers, the unexpected the unimaginable and the uncommon miracle will happen.
Sarah had crossed her age of giving birth but when God remembered her, He blessed her with Isaac. Similar is the case with Rebecca. Hannah wept and prayed in the presence of God for a child but when God remembered her, He took away her reproach and blessed her with Samuel. Joseph was harassed and sold by his own brothers, but when God remembered, he fulfilled what He had promised to Joseph and made him in charge of whole of Egypt.
Like David, problems may arise one after the other, but stay strong and always trust Him.
Psalmist David in Psalms 56, encourages us to always do two things irrespective of the oppressions that we go through,
He says in Verse 11, "In God I have put my trust" and Verse 12, "I will render praises to you".
May God give us the grace to trust Him and render praises to Him 24*7.
God Bless!!
This is awesome. Our God is a provider and he deeply cares for his children. Thank you for the message! God bless you 😊
