During this period of awakening, it is admirable that the number of people burning for Jesus among the Pentecostal youth is increasing. But awakening is not a sudden change, it is a process. It is the individual surrendering process of waking up from darkness to light, it is the process of spreading the divine mandate falling on hearts to many individuals, places and nations.
Before any tree can bear fruit, its root needs to go deep into the ground. It helps it to stand strong in any adverse situation. It is same as the case of divine mandate given to each person, which does not happen suddenly. It requires preparation, wherein we are to become a fit weapon in the hands of God. It requires some patience, wherein we grow silently. There needs to be a quiet period of waiting. 'Yet the strength of those who wait with hope in the Lord will be renewed, they will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and won't become weary, they will walk and won't grow tired' (Isaiah 40:31). During this period, we ought to sit and study things with submission to God, be strengthened by prayer and pray without ceasing. It may be a period of loneliness and isolation, but let’s dwell on God's word and let’s prepare ourselves.
Once this period is over, we can take benefit of all that we have received during the period of silence. 'Cast your bread upon waters for after many days you will find it again ' (Ecclesiastes 11:1). During the period of silence, the time we spent in God’s presence will indeed turn out to be a blessing. But the most important thing is to not give up rather stay humble without questioning the plan of God. The fuel needed to burn for God is found in this period of silence. Let’s humble and surrender ourselves into God's hand. Humble yourselves, therefore under God's mighty hand that he may lift you up in due time' (1 Peter 5:6). Let’s remind ourselves that after the period of silence comes the time when we will be used as God's voice.
