Weep - God Hears Your Cries

By Ps. Phile Samuel | Abu Dhabi, UAE | May 25, 2023 | Share A Thought

There are numerous times in the Bible where we observe that when someone cries out to God, a question that emerges and is posed to the person who is weeping is, "Why are you crying?"

The question only arises when we start rolling our tears down. Psalms 56 vs 8 says, "He has kept a count of all our tossings and he has stored our tears in a bottle".

The Bible records multiple instances of people pleading with God and receiving relief from their problems as a result of his intervention. A few of the many are

1. Exodus 3:7 states that our God is a God – who sees our troubles and does not leave us like that, He hears our cries and does not ignore our groaning, He knows our suffering and delivers us when we cry out to Him. We can take God at His word because we see Him come through for the Israelites. Scripture says that He stretched forth His mighty hand to deliver His People.

2. Another good example is one from Genesis 21:16-17. This chapter talks about the life of Hagar and the pain she endured. So much so that she was kicked out of the house of Sarah and was sent to roam around in the wilderness with her son all while facing death eye-to-eye. But Hagar cried out, she lifted her voice and wept. God heard her voice and the angel of God asked her if she was crying.

3. In John 20:11, Mary Magdalene is seen crying out because the Lord is taken away from her.

4. Luke 18: 35 talks about a Blind beggar crying out with a loud voice saying "Jesus have mercy on me". Then Jesus comes near to him and asks, "What do you want me to do for you?"

5. Luke 7:36 is a passage on the sinful woman who was forgiven. She is described to be a woman who began to weep at the feet of Jesus. In the entirety of the passage the woman is said to be silent – however, the passage does record her crying out but Jesus knew what she was looking for and forgave her of her many sins.

So, here's a word of encouragement for you in Psalms 56:8, " God has kept a count of my tossings and put my tears in His bottle"

The Bible also says, "Try out to be in the presence of the Lord and cry out and God who heard the cry of the Israelites, a God who heard the cry of all his children will hear you out also". Because His word promises that when you cast all your burdens on Him, He will care for you. And our God will not go back on His word, he is not man to lie!
